What's New: Albums, Artists, and a New Home

This is the biggest MusicLink update so far.

Jump to: For developers · For artists · For everyone · Privacy policy

MusicLink is moving from ml.jadquir.com to musiclink.one.

  • Old links keep working. They will send you to the new address automatically.
  • The API will serve both api.ml.jadquir.com and api.musiclink.one for backwards compatibility. No code changes needed. You can switch to the new domain any time.

Most importantly: we now support albums and artist pages. Now you can share albums, artists, and navigate between them.

For developers

API v2

v1 only worked with songs. v2 works with songs, albums and artists.

Send a link, an ISRC, a UPC or a MusicLink ID. The API finds out what it is and returns it on every platform.

bash
curl -G "https://api.musiclink.one/v2/resolve" \
  --data-urlencode "q=https://open.spotify.com/track/4cOdK2wGLETKBW3PvgPWqT" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

The response (shortened):

json
{
  "success": true,
  "data": [
    {
      "type": "track",
      "id": "h8aN_1K9",
      "title": "Never Gonna Give You Up",
      "artist": "Rick Astley",
      "isrc": "GBARL0600786",
      "platforms": {
        "spotify": "https://open.spotify.com/track/4cOdK2wGLETKBW3PvgPWqT",
        "apple_music": "https://music.apple.com/...",
        "youtube_music": "https://music.youtube.com/..."
      }
    }
  ]
}

Changes from v1:

  • platforms replaces links.
  • id replaces public_id. Send it back with platform=musiclink for the fastest lookup.
  • Every item has a type: track, album or artist.
  • Every item has an embed_url. Songs also have duration_ms and preview_url.
  • Fields without a value are left out of the response.

/v1/lookup is now obsolete. Use v2 for new code. The TypeScript SDK doesn't support v2 yet.

Albums and artists in the API

Send an album link or a UPC to get an album. Album links work from Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, YouTube Music and SoundCloud. Album items also have upc, track_count and release_date.

Send an artist link to get an artist. Artist links work from Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, YouTube Music and SoundCloud. Artist items have name instead of title. They can also have genres, bio, social_links and artist_info.

Relations

Songs, albums and artists are now linked:

  • A song item can list all its artists and its album.
  • An album item can list its artists.

The tracklist is on the album page on MusicLink, not in the API response.

Add include to get the relations:

bash
curl -G "https://api.musiclink.one/v2/resolve" \
  --data-urlencode "q=https://open.spotify.com/track/4cOdK2wGLETKBW3PvgPWqT" \
  --data-urlencode "include=related.artists,related.album" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

Each related item has a status:

  • resolved: it's complete. Its url is its page on MusicLink.
  • stub: we know the basics only. Its url is a /v2/resolve request. Request it with your key to get the full item.

/v2/convert

Do you need only one platform? /v2/convert searches only that platform, so it's faster.

bash
curl -G "https://api.musiclink.one/v2/convert" \
  --data-urlencode "q=https://open.spotify.com/track/4cOdK2wGLETKBW3PvgPWqT" \
  --data-urlencode "to=isrc" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

The answer is in data.to.value. to can be a platform like apple_music, or isrc for a song, or upc for an album.

Multiple API keys

You can now have more than one API key. For example, one key for production and one for testing.

  • Give each key a name.
  • See the usage of each key on the Usage page.
  • Revoke one key without stopping the others.

Manage your keys on the API keys page. Free has 1 key, Hobby 3, Developer 10 and Pro 25.

Dashboard: lookup history

The new History page shows your recent requests. For each one you see what you sent, what it matched, and when.

Docs for AI tools

Do you code with an AI assistant? Give it /docs/llms.txt. The full API reference is also in one file: /docs/llm.md.

Read the API docs or get a free API key.

For artists

Claim your handle

Custom artist pages are coming. Claim your handle now on the artists page, like musiclink.one/@yourname. It's free. You only need a free MusicLink account.

Until then, your handle can point to your artist page on MusicLink. Set this up on the artists page after you claim it.

When artist pages launch, your page will show all your music. You will also see how many people visit it and which platforms they open.

Badges, QR codes and embeds

Every song, album and artist page has a Share button. Use it to download:

  • Badges: images for Instagram stories, posts, your bio or your website. There are five shapes, including a tall one for stories.
  • QR codes: for posters, flyers and merch. People scan it and choose their platform.

Badges and QR codes come in dark, light, or the colors of your cover art. You can download PNG or SVG.

The Share button also has an Embed: a card for your website with your cover and a link to every platform. Copy its code and paste it into your site. It comes in full or compact size, dark or light.

Claim your handle now. It's free.

For everyone

Redesigned song pages

Every song page has a new design:

  • The colors come from the cover art.
  • You can play a 30-second preview from the cover, when one is available.
  • You can see every artist on the song, and the album it's from.
  • Every platform is in one list. Each link has a copy button.
  • If a link is wrong, click Wrong or missing link? under the list.

Album and artist pages

Albums and artists now have their own pages.

  • An album page shows all its songs.
  • An artist page shows the artist's info, social links and platforms.
  • Everything is connected. Click an artist name on a song page to open the artist. Click the album name to open the album.

Free converters

Do you need a link for one platform only? Use a free converter, for example Spotify to Apple Music. Paste a link and get the same song on the other platform. You don't need an account.

There are converters for songs, albums and artists.
